Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of large-scale manufacturing for a new domestically developed interceptor drone to reinforce its aerial protection systems. Three initial manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to set up production lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in combat and demonstrated effective “at night, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” officials confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 defensive drones daily.

Recent Attack on Kyiv Described as Calculated

The Ukrainian president characterized Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and wicked” following six individuals were killed and many others wounded in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in the capital just after midnight on Friday, with enemy UAVs soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president reported the country was targeted by 430 drones and multiple missiles. The deceased had been at home in an apartment building on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, including the Azerbaijani embassy.

International Protest Following Diplomatic Compound Destruction

The Azerbaijani government announced it delivered a strong protest to the Russian ambassador on Friday following the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Russian Iskander missile destroyed part of the embassy’s perimeter wall and caused significant destruction to the diplomatic compound, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry stated. No one injured, and a ministry spokesperson confirmed the Kyiv embassy was continuing to operate.

Moscow's Glide Bomb Production Experiences Significant Increase

Russia plans to manufacture as many as 120,000 glide bombs in the current year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official said, among them 500 of a new, longer-range version that can reach more towns and cities. Russian forces were firing 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with the previous month's average daily usage being about 170, based on defence ministry data.

Ukrainian Strikes Target Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to 2% of global supply – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had launched domestically produced missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of operations to reduce the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces additionally targeted an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels during the night.

The number two energy company Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets after last month’s restrictions from Western nations and the collapse of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements will be announced after the final agreements are completed and required authorizations have been obtained,” Lukoil stated.

Ukrainian President Plans Diplomatic Trip to Spain

The Ukrainian leader will visit the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with parliament members following his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies disclosed. Zelenskyy will convene with representatives from both chambers of the legislature throughout his stay, the Spanish statement said.
