Tom Clancy's The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Brutally Tactical TTRPG

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to create a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic landscape. The project was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign planned to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This project will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement.

Launch products are set to feature a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, plunging the nation into chaos. As the crisis worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, turning the urban landscape into a battlefield. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the players enter the story.

Development on the game has been underway for about three years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a preorder system to reach a wider audience, particularly in the United States. Manufacturing will start right after the campaign, with shipping expected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it employs d10s exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic style. Players use abilities to roll a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than summing the total, players choose a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 triggers special effects, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Combat Focus On Positioning and Awareness

Fights stress positioning and environmental awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or line of sight have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to favor coordination and clever tactics instead of simple statistics.

A Novel Health System

The way injuries is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a injury limit; sustaining too much damage weakens their effectiveness by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an agent collapses, but is not unconscious.
  2. They can still crawl and perform restricted acts, simulating the "downed" state common to video game shooters.
  3. Any player in this state must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Scenario

A free introductory rulebook will be released soon. It contains a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an attack by the notorious Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup are expected to be unveiled near the Kickstarter start date.
