The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Versus the Dodgers
The outfielder previously helped the Houston Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their initial championship series following 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the anticipated championship.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an incredible feeling."
Springer has now slugged 23 October home runs, making him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"I can't think of another person anywhere that I'd choose in that situation other than Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, who had led the early in the series, continue to be the one club never to appear in a World Series.
Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts this season.
"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this game," he remarked.
Toronto's team secured the World Series on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
