Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
