Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for questions to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received significant support from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period like this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to its rightful place, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
